On February 9, 2025, Super Bowl 59, where the Chiefs and the Eagles went head to head on the world’s biggest stage.
The AFC team that made it to the Super Bowl this year is the Chiefs, and the NFC team is the Eagles. These teams have played really hard this season. The Chiefs have a record of 15-2, and the Eagles have a record of 14-3. Both of these teams have had games where it was not pretty, but the fan bases are hyped that their team is in the Super Bowl. They are excited that one of these two teams will walk home as the Super Bowl Champs.
The Chiefs are wanting to get the first ever 3-peat, while the Eagles are hoping to stop this and prove that they are the better team, and end the era of the Chiefs, but it will be tougher than the Eagles are planning.
According to Northwest principal Nick Ross, a Chiefs fan, “The Chiefs were never very good, so it’s been an awesome experience.”
The Chiefs were the first team to win two Super Bowl championships and make it back to the Super Bowl all in three years. The Chiefs have gone through many changes to help them get to the point of making it to the Super Bowl three years in a row. They have picked up and drafted many players while the Eagles have refined their team to make the best of their current players. The Eagles made the Chiefs work because the Eagles have the first ranked defence in the NFL.
“I feel fortunate in the regard that I get to watch my team compete at the highest level and win Super Bowls.” Ross stated.
The Chiefs need to drag out their time with the ball to wear out the defence. While the Eagles need to abuse the struggle that the Chiefs defence has had stopping the run game. The Chiefs defence has allowed over 100 yards each during their last two playoff games. The Eagles should use Saquon Barkley to drive down the field, and get in range of either a touchdown or a field goal.
According to Northwest sophomore Ethan Groom, an Eagles fan, “I think the whole team will perform very well.”
Both of these teams have really good players that can make a difference in the game. The Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, DeAndre Hopkins. All of those players can make a difference if they play on the same page. While the Eagles have AJ Brown, Jalen Hurts, and Saquon Barkley . Hurts and Brown can make the Chiefs defence work extra hard trying to keep the Eagles from scoring. Saquon Barkley is a running machine, he has the build to make it hard for any defence to stop him.
Many NFL fans are starting to hate how the 2 time champs, the Chiefs, have made it to the Super Bowl once again like Eagles fan Lilah Kress, “I think the Eagles will play a really good and competitive game.”
The Eagles won the Super Bowl, they won 40 to 22. The Chiefs looked very sloppy and made a ton of mistakes. The Chiefs did not score till the middle of the third quarter. Patrick Mahomes threw 2 interceptions during the Super Bowl, one of those picks being to Iowa graduate Cooper Dejean. Dejean ran all the way to his endzone for a pick six. Mahomes was sacked six times and lost a fumble. The Chiefs had a lot of dropped passes that should have been caught. The Chiefs dropped a lot of passes on third down, which caused them to have to punt the ball away. Overall the Chiefs were not playing their best during Super Bowl 59, and the Eagles took advantage of this.
