Struggles in the Workplace

Expansion has always been a problem for the environment here on Earth, but even more so now for the people and animals.
The impacts expansion has already had and will have are part of irreversible destruction involving so many good things the environment has to offer. It affects biodiversity, climate, energy demand, and farmlands.
Jett Carstens, a junior at Northwest High School, stated, “A lot of beautiful land is being gone to waste because we’re making so many houses.”
Urbanization is affecting the environment massively, taking down habitation and typically resulting in deforestation. While humans get nice houses and buildings, animals and the ecosystem lose their homes. The environment can not thrive if there is no place for it to start. However, humans are advancing and changing things to better and help the environment, such as EV cars and solar power.
“I’ve heard of the flowers blooming in the Arctic- old news, I know, but it’s still happening, and alongside weather patterns that are increasingly hard to predict and natural disasters that increase in frequency, there are many big changes,” stated Westley Clausen, a junior at Northwest High School.
The environment has taken a huge hit in so many parts of the world, even those that humans indirectly affect. More icebergs are melting, green life is growing in the Arctic, and the weather has become erratic and constantly changing to become unpredictable and unstable. Natural disasters are getting worse over time, hitting record levels and causing more destruction. A recent example was Hurricane Helene and its devastating path through multiple states.
“This is our home. I feel personally called to protect the places that I have loved and been inspired by my whole life. We come from this Earth. It seems terribly disrespectful to trash the place that provides us with everything we need to live,” informed Ms. Loyd, the Northwest Environmental Club sponsor and Biology and Environmental Ecology teacher at NWHS.
The environment works hard to help with survival, and many people do not realize it. The environment provides oxygen, food, supplies, water and much more to ensure survival among living things.
