Natalie Harris, a sophomore at the University of Iowa, has secured a spot among the top hurdlers in the entire country under 20.
This unbelievable achievement is a major component of all the hard work, perseverance, and athletic ability.
Harris, from Waukee, Iowa, first discovered her passion for track and field in middle school. Her exceptional performances at the local and state levels caught the attention of many college recruiters, ultimately leading her to commit to the University of Iowa track and field team. Under the guidance of her coaches and with the support of her teammates, Harris continued to excel in her events, showcasing her speed, agility and determination.
Harris said, “ Jim Duea has helped me get to where I am today, every opportunity I get, I send him flowers and a card thanking him for teaching me how to hurdle.”
Her dedication to training and commitment to her sport paid off when she received the exciting news of her selection to the top USA hurlers under the age of 20.
Representing her country through the sport she loves the most, is a dream come true. Her talent serves as recognition of her potential to achieve even greater heights in the future. Harris will have many opportunities to compete against some of the best young athletes from around the world, further honoring her skills and gaining invaluable experience.
Harris states, “I have found a close family on the track here at Iowa.”
