Fashion has always been a way for students to express and present themselves, and Northwest could have a runway for its fashion.
Since the ’90s, America has been putting out clothing that stands out from the rest of the world. From baggy clothes to tight and revealing clothing, Americans have been changing their style to express themselves. Because of this, fashion has become the #1 way to express ourselves. This trend followed within schools as well, including Northwest.
“I think a lot of popular trends nowadays are geared towards an aesthetic, but I try not to make myself fit into those rules super strictly. Whatever I like, I just wear, and right now, I’m interested in a lot of cute sweaters and simple pants because it’s cold now,” said Junior Emma Zheng. She also stated that she loves how fashion lets her express herself and sends out a message that she wants to be herself through her fashion.
Makenzie Lumadue, a sophomore at Northwest, also mentioned that she wants to spread a message with her clothing style. “[I want to send out] that I’m a nice person,” stated Lumadue. She also mentioned that she gets her inspiration from an Instagram Blogger, @adeladadoll.
Another thing that people find a way to express themselves through their clothing is by shopping at their favorite stores. From their vintage to casual clothes, stores like H&M, Urban Outfitters, Zara and much more have been popularized by Northwest students.
“I love shopping at Zara and Pretty Little Thing!” exclaimed Fanta Camara, a senior at Northwest. Camara also mentioned that her style of clothing depends on her mood and that they vary from style to style.
Overall, Northwest students have a creative sense of style. Each student represents their culture and to express themselves.
