Crumbl vs. Insomnia

Since Crumbl Cookies was founded, many have been debating where to get the best cookies, creating tough competition for its counterpart, Insomnia Cookies.
Sophomore Luci Larner stated, “I think the [Insomnia] chocolate chip cookies are a lot gooier, and I like the way that it tastes more.”
She also mentioned that the name and logo of Insomnia are more unique and that Crumbl could improve their cookies by making the texture of the cookies better, making them resemble more of a homemade style.
Xochitl, West Des Moines Crumbl Cookies Manager, said, “I believe the fact that everything is made from scratch at Crumbl is what makes it unique.”
She also mentioned that Crumbl is constantly improving by rotating its flavors every week.
The cookies taste tested were for the week of August 27th through September 9th. During that week, the cookie flavors were Caramel Pumpkin Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter Featuring OREO®, Chocolate Toffee Cake, a Mystery Cookie, Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk and Key Lime Pie. The Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chunk cookie is available at Crumbl all year long while the other five cookie flavors are switched every week.
The photo taken in Insomnia Cookies Downtown Des Moines location shows some of Insomnia’s most popular cookies like Double Chocolate Mint, Smores Deluxe, Oatmeal Raisin, White Chocolate Macadamia, Sugar and Chocolate Chunk. These are only six of Insomnia’s great flavors!
Crumbl and Insomnia share some similar cookie flavors, but Crumbl’s cookies are served in larger proportions while Insomnia Cookies are more of a familiar style cookie. In a poll, 30% of students surveyed at Northwest preferred Insomnia Cookies while 70% of people chose Crumbl Cookies.
Although both cookie shops have produced very successful and well-loved products, Crumbl Cookies has shown to be the overall fan favorite at Northwest High School.
