Northwest’s International Club will be hosting its annual International Night on May 12th from 5:30 to 8:00 in the Northwest Commons.
The event will center around student-run booths representing different cultures. Students can run a booth from their own culture or one they are interested in. These booths will offer things like cultural games and food. Sophomore and International Club member Emma Zheng plans to run a booth. Zheng described, “It’s so cool to learn about other people’s cultures… Everyone should come try it.”
Food items will cost around $1.00 each. Guests must purchase $5.00 tickets to enter the event. A portion of International Night’s proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders, a charity organization that provides medical humanitarian aid across the world.
After giving attendees time to peruse each booth, there will be cultural performances like dancing, reading poetry or playing instruments. Sophomore and International Club member Mia Stogdill stated, “It’s a great experience to see other people’s cultures that you may not be exposed to every day at school.”
People interested in attending should look out for upcoming announcements about International Night. There are also QR codes posted around the school with ticket information.
International Club President and senior Saranya Paturi explained, “I think with our school not being completely diverse, it’s important to learn about other perspectives, other cultures. So going to International Night can broaden your horizons. And also, there’s good food!”
